The Plano ISD ESL program offers tailored instruction for Emergent Bilingual students in line with Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines. It integrates the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Plano ISD curriculum across all content areas while promoting ESL as a vital part of the overall school program. The program enhances self-esteem and creates a positive school climate by fostering respect for diversity among students, parents, and staff. It emphasizes continuous evaluation to improve student learning and supports staff development in cultural and linguistic diversity and second language acquisition strategies.

The goals of the ESL program are for students to:

  • Improve their English proficiency
  • Attain high levels of academic achievement in language arts and in content subjects
